Alyssa today

Alyssa was singing parts of "Put Your Shoulder to the Wheel" when she said, "Mom, I know which shoulder you're supposed to put to the wheel."
"Which one?" I asked.
"The one that marches." It then occurred to me that she thought we were putting soldiers to the wheel. I think that makes more sense anyway. Their shoulders are stronger too.

Then she said while sucking on a dum-dum sucker, "My mouth is playing a game with my sucker. My tongue licks the sugar off the side of my cheek. Then my tongue hides its eyes while my sucker puts on more sugar."

This child marches into the heart and puts sugar on its cheek.
